A port is defined as an area on both land and water, whether on the sea or river, that provides facilities for shipping vessels to load and unload their cargo.

A terminal is a subdivision of a port and it refers to a part dedicated to a certain type of activity, such as containers or bulks. Alternatively, it could be a port area managed by a specific terminal operator. And basically, a terminal is a facility that may have several berths.

A berth is a designated location in a port or harbour used for mooring vessels when they are not at open sea. Berths provide a vertical front which allows safe and secure mooring that can then facilitate the unloading or loading of cargo or people from vessels.

항구는 바다든 강이든 육지와 물 모두에 있는 지역으로 정의되며, 선박이 화물을 싣고 내릴 수 있는 시설을 제공한다.

터미널은 항구의 소분할이며 컨테이너나 불룩과 같은 특정 유형의 활동에 전념하는 부분을 말한다. 또는 특정 터미널 운영자가 관리하는 포트 영역일 수 있다. 그리고 기본적으로 터미널은 여러 개의 정박지가 있을 수 있는 시설이다.

정박지는 항만이나 항구에 있는 항만이나 항구가 공해상에 있지 않을 때 계류하는 선박에 사용되는 지정지점이다. 정박지는 선박에서 화물이나 사람을 하역하거나 적재할 수 있는 안전하고 안전한 계류선을 제공한다.
